Weather was cold and light rain made its appearance but all of that could not keep the Valley View Tigers Softball team from playing their first scrimmage. The Lady Tigers showed resilience and fight but their rally fell just short as Valley View dropped their first scrimmage 11-7 to a very competitive Rio Hondo squad.
The lady Tigers offensive attack was led by Senior Captain Ashley Flores (2-4) who had herself a night at the plate and on the base path. Flores was an offensive machine against the tough Bobcat pitching as she produced 3 RBI’s and scored twice via home run and triple. Freshman Emileth Cavazo’s proved to be a Tiger on wheels scoring twice and stealing 1 base.
Valley View’s pitching staff (Connie Hernandez, Janeyra Garcia)combined for only two walks on the night. Senior Janeyra Garcia turned in a gem in relief allowing only 3 runs on 4 hits.
Special thanks to all of the Tiger fans who made the long drive and battled the elements. Your mighty Tigers now travel to face Port Isabel on what promises to be another great Pre-Season match up. Go Tigers!!!!
